ResinLove

ResinLove was an exhibition at the Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna featuring paintings by Catherine Outwin and Sophia Elise.

Though they had common themes such as light, landscape, symbolism and bold colours, the one feature they all displayed was they were encased in layers of resin.

Both artists confessed to possessing a feature for resin and this became their signature. The resin is cast on top of the paint and mixed media, enhancing its colours and providing a translucent source of light. Then the artist my lay in other images, paint, ink or washes. The artist does not predetermine the number of layers she will apply. The process is organic.
